Yes! It was Legolas. I remember liking that line when I read LOTR as a child because I always liked 'the green smell' of spring--it's a perfect description. And I can see how doing this in translation would be doubly difficult--so congratulations!

I don't remember much German at all, sadly, but I think your quote is 'Behold, the White Rider.'
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

correct! Well done Merry!

But sometimes the two languages are nearly the same/similar in pronunciation ..white = weiß , rider = Reiter.

Therefore i choose this quote. For the others, that don't speak german, i thought, that the Translation of the the three words (seht/sehen, white, rider), would lead them to right guess.

No need to apologize, phyloxera! I thought that since it was your question, it wasn't my place to approve the answer. But don't worry about the time elapsed: we often joke that our pace in these threads is a bit Entish! We're all busy people in the Real World and that comes first.

Serinde, your turn!
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,

and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Thanks for the lovely hint! This is just a guess, but I think it is Sam, said to Gollum.
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.
