OK, I'll put my level 2 thinking cap on:

What was "Ever-Summer" and what significance did it have for one particular King?

Ever-summer was an evergreen tree ( also called Oiolaire) brought to Numenor by the Eldar of Eressea, from which was cut the Bough of Return...the king in question I believe was Isildur who managed to save a single fruit of that tree after Sauron ordered it choppped down. Of this fruit later came the White Tree of Gondor....the tree of Kings.

Oh for goodness sake I should have remembered that. I've just finished Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife.

:clapping: Well done Elassarslady, the first part is correct, but the White Tree of Gondor came from Nimloth, a descendant of Telperion, the Eldest of Trees.

I was thinking of another King. You are, however, very close to the answer. :)

I thought you had Philipa siting Aldarion and Erendis: The Mariner's Wife...since Erendis brought the bow to Aldarion...for his safe return from the sea...if my memory serves me correctly...

Philipa, yes, EllarsLady is correct, when I said the answer was very close, it was indeed your reference to Aldarion.

Whenever Aldarion sailed, the Bough of Return was always placed on the prow of his ships, however, when he became King he replaced it with "the image of an eagle with golden beak and jewelled eyes" a gift from Cirdan.

\:D/ Well done EllarsLady, we can move on now, to your next question.

The source of the Blackroot River came from the mountains near the southern gate of the Paths of the Dead, above Erech, an ancient site at the White Mountains.

:-k If I remember right Aule was impatient and created seven dwarves that slept until the awakening of the Elves. Iluvatar was not happy with this little creation experience but he excepted them none the less.
