Merry, you are correct in that the true colors I used on Goblin-gate do not show well on the jpg file. They are washed out. The original piece has the colors deeper and a wee bit more vibrant. I will work on it over the weekend to see if I can't get it to show better here.Merry wrote:I have to say, though, that there is something about the Goblin's Gate that is not feeling right to me. I've just stared at it for a long time, trying to figure out what it is. I'm not very good at this, but I think that it has something to do with the colors. Your pieces are very dependent on colors, since the kinds of shapes you use in each piece are kind of similar. So the colors set the mood. And the ones you use in Goblin's Gate are some of my favorite colors and just too pretty! Maybe this is a case of the colors not reproducing correctly when you copy them here, but it seems to me that the greens need to be sicker, slimier to evoke that orcish feeling. Does that make any sense?
But ... having said that, I will admit to thinking about making the colors 'slimier' when I was doing the piece and it just didn't come out right ... virtually a black and white. So, using artistic license
