We'll see you there, Beren!

From The Tolkien Library:
Readers will find Cor Blok's work refreshing, provocative, charming and wholly memorable – the bold and expressive style that he created stands as a unique achievement in the history of fantasy illustration. Rarely has an artist captured the essence of a writer's work in such singular fashion; the author himself agreed, and what higher accolade is there?
Now let the song begin! Let us sing together
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather...
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather...

Re: Cor Blok
Thanks for posting this, Fangorn! It's interesting to hear him talk about his influences, etc. Still bugs me a little to hear that he doesn't consider himself a Tolkien fan, though.
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Re: Cor Blok
thanks for this, Fangorn! really interesting to see the man himself describe his art in his own words. I have both the calenders and received the book for Christmas - it's wonderful, and Beren has done a really good job. Blok's work has a charm all its own and I'm glad that he's receiving wider recognition now.
