I think beer is beer but they have different names for each type of beer. Different processes produce different 'beers'.

So ale is a kind of beer?

(Sorry for the diversion!)

I found this in the online OED, if that helps!

ale

• noun 1 chiefly Brit. beer other than lager, stout, or porter. 2 N. Amer. beer brewed by top fermentation.

— ORIGIN Old English.
"Torment in the dark was the danger that I feared, and it did not hold me back.
But I would not have come, had I known the danger of light and joy."

Thanks, marbretherese, and all hail to the OED! So it sounds like ale is sort of ordinary, everyday beer?

Meanwhile, back to my question about the cordial of Imladris?

Evidently my trivia question was so easy that you all would be ashamed to answer it--picking the low hanging fruit! So would somebody just humor me and answer the question so we can move on, please? :?

Hint: they don't actually drink the cordial until they leave Imaladris.

Level 1.5

Who first unfurled the banner that Arwen made for Aragorn and where was it first unfurled?

OK...enough time has elapsed. It was Halbarad at the Stone of Erech.

Something easier?

What were the two gifts of Galadriel to Aragorn?

Halbarad is one of my favorite characters!

I'll start us off: a scabbard for Anduril.

To long has this thread lay dormant.

The second gift was the Elfstone of the house of Elendil.
