hi everyone,

Some of you know me already from another site where I am known as elen. To everyone else, hi there! :D

I'm an avid reader of everything to do with Tolkien and have been for more years than I care to remember. Sadly (according to my family) I can quote from most of the books.

I thought the films were amazing - but the books are better and I still don't forgive Peter Jackson for messing around with Faramir.

I teach Physics and spend most of my free time listening to and watching Opera.

I'm very glad to be here with you all!

Welcome Gil! not only a Tolkien fan but a lover of opera too. Excellent! I'm sure you will enjoy wandering around these forums, they are great fun as well as informative.

Like you, I wish PJ hadn't messed around with Faramir either . . . :D

How wonderful to see you here, 'Gil'! It was about a year ago this week that we met in person, remember? I think you will find yourself at home here, too.

and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Hi Gil! Welcome to MeJ! I am delighted that you have joined us.

We are approaching the fall and I don't know about you and everyone else, but that's when I get the profound urge to travel the paths of middle-earth with all of my friends there once again.

It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out of your door…You step into the Road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there is no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Am looking to be swept off yet again!

Gotta LOVE that Tolkien!! :D

Hello Gil :D . So nice to have a new member. I'm an opera lover too!

I hope you enjoy the forums - we seem to be on a bit of a slow burn this week so if there are any embers out there that you want to fan into a flame we'd be thrilled  .
Now let the song begin! Let us sing together

Hi all! Just wandered over from Viggo-Works. Have been wanting to join, but was hoping to get more time to spend here first. Have loved Tolkien's works since first reading the Hobbit & LOTR 32 years ago & still re-read them every couple of years. I love what Peter Jackson did with the films too! This looks like such an interesting site, I hope to get over here from time to time. Love the calendar!

Welcome, Mallorn--I love the name! I reread LOTR every couple of years as well, and the first sniff of fall in the air usually signals the time.

Look around to your heart's content!

and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.
