TOR.n posted this link today to John Howe's site:
http://www.john-howe.com/stuff/gallery/ ... ge_id=1595
It's a picture of a BEAUTIFUL fern brooch that Mr. Howe has fashioned, one hundred of which will be on sale at St. Ursanne. Lucky, lucky people who get to go there!

Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Lovely, isn't it!

But I would not have come, had I known the danger of light and joy."

Re: New Tolkien Calendar
That pendant is amazing
. You can buy it from the Saint-Ursanne online shop. I've nearly ordered it a couple of times since I saw it on TorN and as I type this I'm wondering what on earth's stopping me. It's fabulous!
.
I wish I could help but I've never come accross him before either. Nice line-drawing on the front of the calendarParmastahir wrote:Received and created a listing for a 2007 Hobbit calendar from Australia this week. It is an excellent calendar from Colin Williams. The illustrations are great, the production quality is top notch, and it's simply different from all of the others that I have collected. Prior to finding it on eBay, had not heard of this one or its illustrator. Could not find a website or email address for him, so have written to him to find out more about his work. Has anyone here any information on Colin Williams (Annandale, NSW, Australia)? Thanks!

CotM for August
Hello to all -
It's August so I updated the Calendar of the Month feature. This month's is another rare one. Hope you like it and that everyone is enjoying the summer.
Also, found out A BUNCH about Colin Williams and his calendar. Will post more on that in the not-too-distant future.

Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise can not see all ends.

Perhaps this is a question for a moderator?
I am wondering if it would be OK with everyone if I started a new thread specifically for Tolkien Calendars? As a relative newcomer (albeit one who feels quite at home here given the reception and responses that I have received - thag you very buch!), I do not wish to presume that I should or may do so.
What do members here think of this? Thanks for your comments!

This idea does sound interesting, but can you please share your own ideas for this calendar thread. What would be the purpose?
Discussion?
Comparison?
A place to share what is out there?
I know I have seen some WONDERFUL Tolkien calendars over the years and sharing them and discussing them might be fun for all.
Thoughts?

Tolkien Calendar Thread
Hi Riv Res -
All of that and more, basically.
I am completely OCD when it comes to Tolkien calendars. Such a thread would be a place for fellow calendar fanatics and those with passing interest to share and find information. Every month, I notify everyone of the new Calendar of the Month, for instance. It is usually a rare calendar that people will probably not otherwise see the illustrations of.
My thought was that there have been many replies to the Tolkien calendar posts that I have made in this thread. This seems to indicate an interest in them (or else it's simply that this is something new in the thread and has reawakened interest and discussion?) But this thread is so long (9 pages, currently) that this specific topic may either get lost in here or wind up dominating the discussions.
I am having fun and others have shown an interest in the topic. So I will certainly keep posting no matter what the decision!
It's about time for me to shoot the calendar for September and get those images ready to post. And look for more information on Colin Williams in the not-too-distant future, too.

That dragon curled around the bridge at Saint-Ursanne is pretty amazing. I wish there was a photo of the other side.
I will myself, thanks to an amazingly nice V-W member
Out of doubt, out of dark, to the day's rising
he rode singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
Hope he rekindled, and in hope ended;
over death, over dread, over doom lifted
out of loss, out of life, unto long glory.

"New" Tolkien Calendar
Discovered (and collected) a previously undiscovered Tolkien calendar. It is a variant of the 1977 calendar published in New Zealand. Check it out at:

As it winds down, hope everyone's summer was great.
