Yes Riv, it's Melian and yes, it's from the Sil....she's talking to Galadriel in the chapter "Of the coming of men into the West" .

Over to you.
....her song released the sudden spring, like rising lark and falling rain, and melting water bubbling

OK...Level 2...

Who says:

"There is always more about you than anyone expects!"

Extra credit if you also know who it was spoken to.

I think this is Gandalf to Bilbo from the chapter "A thief in the night" in the Hobbit.

Well done Gil!! :D

That line in retrospect, always makes me wonder if the entire Lord of the Rings story was already percolating in Tolkien's imagination while writing The Hobbit. It seems so apropos for much of the sentiment in that larger story.

Your turn Gil!

I think that this is something that Frodo says to Sam when they are in the Dead Marshes.

I think we should guess more here, so I'll guess Elrond. Sounds like one of those enigmatic Elrond things.
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

You're kidding. Well, I should have bought a lottery ticket today!

Here's a nice line that the Professor must have enjoyed using:

"Well, this has been the nicest chat I've had in a month of Mondays."

I'll take a guess at this . . . it sounds hobbit-y, and possibly as though the speaker is trying to hurry away . . .

. . . Bilbo to Smaug, perhaps?
"Torment in the dark was the danger that I feared, and it did not hold me back.
But I would not have come, had I known the danger of light and joy."

It does sound hobbit-y, marbretherese, but it's not--big clue! Good guess, though.
