I think it came pretty early in our history, Lindariel. Several of our Writers really honed their skills, which was fun to watch and participate in, as was the case with Riv Res' artwork here. One even became a published author as a result!

Well, I'm off to Oxford tomorrow for the annual Tolkien Society Oxonmoot. I'll be talking two of my paintings to their art exhibition - Lothlorien and Gollum (because it's brightly coloured and not too detailed) - and picked them up in their new frames yesterday. Gollum had been put in the frame upside down which seems appropriate somehow

. He's now the right way up....

I'll take my camera and write a full report

. I see Anke Eissman is on the list of members coming. I'm thrilled as I'd love to meet her after writing a profile on her art! And, Merry, Marcel Bulles will also be there! We both met him at last years Tolkien Conference at Exeter College where he presented a paper. He runs RingCon and is a very nice (and extremely clever) young man. So at least I'll know somebody

Okay, I'll admit it: I'm completely green-faced jealous! The only thing that will make me feel better will be your complete report, Iolanthe. Have a wonderful time, and say hello from me to Marcel and anyone else from our Oxford experience, please!

I will! There are a couple of other names that I'm sort of familiar with and I'm hoping to recognise some more faces when I get there!

Maybe you'll take a trip next year, Merry? They are doing an extra day and starting on the Thursday so it will be a longer event
