The whole sequence involving Eowyn at the Pelennor is one of my favourite parts of LOTR
I would say this is a Level 2 or possibly 2.5:
I would say this is a Level 2 or possibly 2.5:
. . . we are but mortal Men, and unlike the Eldar. They may endure for long years awaiting battle with their enemies in some far distant day; but for us the time is short, and our hope and strength soon wither.

This character's story appears in The Book of Lost Tales AND The Silmarillion , I believe - but the quote itself is taken from a much more recent version of the tale.
"Torment in the dark was the danger that I feared, and it did not hold me back.
But I would not have come, had I known the danger of light and joy."
