I am not positive...but I seem to remember that the original Elessar somehow came to Idril who gave it to Eärendil. I also believe that it had the power of healing.

The home of the Haladin was the woods of Brethil...the two rivers it was located between were the Sirion (west) and the Taeglin (north)....I'm pretty sure but not positive....

Correct EL, although I believe the one river is spelled Teiglin and it bordered Brethil on the west and south, while the Sirion flowed on the eastern border. :D
