Herdir Perhael ne Mithrennaith - Meester/jongeheer Samwijs in Grijsoord - Master Samwise in Greyholme at your service!

I´m not really accustomed to introduce myself. I probably picked up that bad habit because at the very first forum I ever posted I was set up as a member and moderator without having registered myself; so for everyone there I came with the works - no introduction needed.

Since then, I've entered a moderate number of Tolkien boards, always with the same 'nick' - or in my case it is a 'style' rather than a 'title', for those who know the difference - usually because someone at another board (or at a Tolkien society) pointed out some discussion to me, or even invited me in, and when I liked what I read I just, nearly surreptitiously, joined in.

Ringing the changes on that tune, on this board I passed by because Parmastahir (whom I met at Minas Tirith and The Green Dragon) linked Iolanthe's and Marbretherese's reports of 'Castles in the Mist' over at the J.R.R. Tolkien Collector's Guide (Rowns' site) - and discovered that you've all met me already, before I registered! I'm the overgrown Hobbit talking to Jef Murray in this picture:

So, I just thought I'd put the name to the picture - and that is my main reason for registering here. I don't know whether I'll be in regularly, although I've bookmarked the site, as I think I want to have a closer look at a few things.

I've been an avid appreciator of Arda - the rest of Tolkien's works sort of tagging along - for nearly thirty years now. I've been an active member of the Dutch Tolkien Society Unquendor for ten years, and have become a member of The Tolkien Society (often attending Oxonmoot), the German Tolkien Society (DTG) and of Elanor (what used to be the Flemish Tolkien Society) - So I know Beren rather well. I'm a book person - I enjoyed the movies as impressive visual dramatisations, but to me they didn't do the book justice.

I usually get I a bit fidgety when I read non-existent words like 'definately' and 'triology' or dito names like 'Tolkein' or 'Tolien', or 'forward' used to mean a part of a book instead of a football player, or 'Valar', 'Maiar','Ainur', 'Eldar', 'Noldor', 'Sindar', 'Dúnedain', 'Rohirrim', etc. used as singulars, or Tolkien's magnum opus described as a trilogy, but I try not to let it show.

Welcome, Mithrennaith! This is a 'book' site rather than a 'movie' site, although there are people here who like both. We do have a thread to discuss the Hobbit movies, though--just too much fun to pass up!

Anyway, after you look around, come back to visit as often as you like! It will be good to have your ideas on Tolkien.

for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Good to see you here, Mithrennaith! I'm sure you'll find plenty here to enjoy. Glad you liked our reports, they seem to have gone down well!

Welcome to Middle-earth Journeys, Mithrennaith!

While in general, we are not book purists here, we are all of the consensus that irregardless of talent, there is no competing with Tolkien's works themselves. The movies were indeed a brilliant visualization, not nothing compares to Tolkien's words.

Visit when you can and join in as the spirit (and Tolkien) move you. :D

Welcome Mithrennaith :D . I remember seeing you several times at the Castles in the Mist Exhibition. Perhaps we'll have a chance to meet properly at this year's Oxonmoot?

I think you'll find plenty to enjoy and interest you here. We burn slow but steady (the best way  ) and the more members the merrier. I do hope you'll find some time to join in and post.

Thanks everyone for your welcomes!

I've already registered for Oxonmoot at the previous occasion, but I still have to register for accomodation. (Better do that soon.) So I hope to see some of you there - I did meet a number of Oxonmoot regulars in Moreton on the other days.

A great Tolkien forum - and an Oxonmoot-friendly one too!

Only discovered it today, and thought it would be nice to join.
