I'd like it even more if she did the garden for me while I sat with a long cool drink and a good book  . I'd only get in her way....
Now let the song begin! Let us sing together

Fabulous! I LOVE it :clapping: . I'd party under there any day! Great details to enjoy - Gandalf's cipher on the fireworks, the seating directions for all the Hobbit families, the bird boxes in the tree, the lit window in the background - all ready and waiting for us to come and sit down :D (and that's the key - with no Hobbits there to distract we feel we can step in ourselves instead of just being bystanders).

This is wonderful! (I just realized that this is the tree I've been doodling on my faculty meeting agendas for 15 years--thousands upon thousands of little green leaves! I grade and correct in green ink, so I've always got a green pen at hand.)

I think the lanterns in the tree make it, coupled by the flame pattern in the border. I also like the pattern in the grass--good way to do that.
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Doodling is the sign of a latent artist, Merry.

I love Iolanthe's Fimbrethil - all those lovely pastoral references! it will go down a storm at Oxonmoot and Fangorn will be very pleased!! Riv, your party tree makes me want to sit right down on one of those hobbity stools with a tankard of beer. And Merry - latent or not, doodles count as art!

This is the second painting I completed a couple of weeks ago. I'm not so happy with this one but I won't be redoing it. I've wrestled with it enough! I'm quite pleased with the dragon though. It's just the rest of it  .

It is still VERY well done Iolanthe! Very fierce and I do love your colors. Yes. The dragon is quite magnificent! :D

I think you should be very proud of it all! The rocks are wonderfully done, and I like the little tree falling into the river (which does look a tiiiiiny bit pink, but that's being picky). And the dragon is just wonderful!

Poor Turin is hanging on for dear live to that little tree. I like this one Iolanthe. It gives us the enormity of the situation because Glaurung is so huge. That's some fiery worm. :nervous:

He is, isn't he? I wanted his underside to glow so the whole ravine was lit (although dragon's aren't generally shown that way). Tolkien does describe him as a very hot dragon though.

The river isn't quite so pink on the original, more a yellow/orange. I balanced the colours for my screen but it's impossible really to get it right! I may take it to Oxonmoot (along with Gandalf and Fimrethil) - it depends whether I paint something better between now and September!

I LOVE it Iolanthe! Glaurung is magnificent, and Turin looks both brave and vulnerable at the same time -- hanging onto that pathetic little tree, plus the proximity of those massive, vicious claws. It gives me the shivers!
