Created a new Calendar of the Month for June on the homepage of:

www.tolkiencalendars.com

It is probably appropriate given all of the talk about The Hobbit movie. Hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Parmastahir! I haven't seen any of Lydia Postma's illustrations since I was a child. Brings back happy memories!

TOR.n is reporting that one of JRRT's early drawings is for auction at Sotheby's next week. It's a nice one, according to my taste, anyway, of Aunt Jane's farm, and they say that it includes one of the earliest known uses of the JRRT symbol/signature that we've seen in later works. It also says that it's unusual for one of his drawings to be sold; this one comes from one of Hilary's descendents.

So, anybody have a spare few pounds? (I do, but they're all around my waist!)
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Wow - it is unusal for one to some up! Most are in the Bodleian with a few at Maquette University.

There's a lot of academic interest in Aunt Jane at the moment so the owner probably thought this was a good time to sell.
