Cheyenne Angel, thank you for posting this! My French is a bit rusty but I've managed to navigate his website and take a closer look. It's truly amazing!

I'm still planning to go to Saint-Ursanne and take a look at the John Howe exhibition, so I'm gathering info. 
I went to John Howe's website and found a mentioning of a video in his new chronicle. Here:

Under Multimedia: SF1 reportage (it's in German, sadly Howe's voice has been dubbed)
Very nice scenes from Saint Ursanne, really looking forward to seeing it myself.

Tolkien Calendars
Hello to All -
I discovered these forums only recently but have been a fan of Tolkien for over 30 years. It seemed appropriate to post here as my passion is the many Tolkien calendars that have been created over the years. I have been able to catalog about 240 of them as of the most recent discovery. While I too love the work of John Howe, Ted Nasmith, and the other major illustrators, there are dozens of others "out there" who contribute their work to the various Tolkien societies (e.g. - Poland, Finland) for the love of the works of the Professor. You may view the calendars on my website "The Compleat Gyde to Tolkien Calendars". Hope you enjoy them and find the site useful. Would always be happy to hear from anyone that knows of any undiscovered calendars.

I am MORE than pleased that you find my site of use! I have a small circle of fellow calendar collectors that use it. Indeed, my original intent was to catalog all of the ones that I could discover, provide a resource to fellow enthusiasts, create an on-line resource that I could use (without having to be home to look at my Excel spreadsheet!), receive contacts from new collectors (therefore the email link), and (finally) to learn a little about creating a website. (OK, the last one is semi-successful. I have the basics down but still have it hosted by Angelfire. I have had at least three offers to host it elsewhere and get rid of the popups. Eventually, I will choose one and do so.) As I user, I would love to know your comments, suggestions, etc (good or bad, but especially bad if I might improve some functionality in the way that you use the website or correct any errors, etc).
As that was my first post in these forums, I was not allowed to add a link. Thanks for doing so!
And I agree with you about the influence of the "big three" (Howe, Nasmith, and Lee). Please don't get me wrong. I love the work of Howe and Nasmith (both of whom I have communicated with along with Tim Kirk, Henning Janssen, Anke Eismann). But there are so many others out there illustrating for the many calendars from the various Tolkien societies (e.g. - Parmadili, Societa Tolkieniana Italiana, Seuran Tolkien Oy, Tolkien's Ring, etc etc) that do it because they like it. This is the reason that I have created a Calendar of the Month feature: to bring the illustrations of the lesser known (in many cases, truly rare - appropriate but often overused) calendars to the light of day. Many of these would not ever be seen (so few were created or so few have survived the years) if I did not. I feel that I'm a caretaker of these and not simply an owner.
I added three new calendars to my collection/catalog this week:
- A 1984 Arthedain (Norge Tolkien Forening) calendar with Gregorian, Shire, and Imladris reckonings.
- 2006 and 2007 Tolkiendil (French Tolkien society).
And I have a 2007 Hobbit-themed calendar from Australia coming, too. Hope you enjoy them! Enough for now.

p.s. - OK, just one more thing: Parmastahir is elvish parma=book, asta=month, hir=to find, literally "book of months finder" or "calendar collector". And if I use a last name, it's Took which goes with the Green Hill Country and fits my inquistive nature when it comes to collecting these calendars!

You are correct that it wasn't built in a day (nor was the actual collection). It has evolved over the last few years to one of better functionality. (And I am ALWAYS interested to know people's thoughts - good or bad, perhaps especially bad as those generally lead to improvements - on that.) However, it is a very simple website and rather easily maintained (Calendar of the Month feature, new additions, etc). I am a novice compared to others whom I correspond with (Beren of the Tolkien Library site, Jeremy at the Tolkien Collectors Guide, etc). However, it serves my purpose (getting that information 'out there' to my fellow collectors and enthusiasts), provides new contacts now and then, and is great fun (and completely non-fattening!)

New Tolkien Calendar
Received and created a listing for a 2007 Hobbit calendar from Australia this week. It is an excellent calendar from Colin Williams. The illustrations are great, the production quality is top notch, and it's simply different from all of the others that I have collected. Prior to finding it on eBay, had not heard of this one or its illustrator. Could not find a website or email address for him, so have written to him to find out more about his work. Has anyone here any information on Colin Williams (Annandale, NSW, Australia)? Thanks!

Thank you for the tip. I was not aware that the review was there on the Tolkien Library site. (The Tolkien Library is Beren's creation. I could only hope to have a calendar collection even a tenth as amazing as his of books!)
