Sorry guys to be so slow. I can only get here through internet explorer & I don't usually use that. Ok. Who said, "He is come", when Prince Imrahil & Eomer first went to the Houses of Healing upon learning that Eowyn was alive & taken there?

That "cloaked man" would be none other than Aragorn, who had arrived to bring healing to Faramir, Eowyn, and Merry.
Here's a level 2 question:
Name the following characters associated with the Ring of Barahir:
Who gave it to Barahir to begin with?
Who displayed it at the Court of Menegroth?
Who gave it as a token of betrothal?

Ah Lindariel! It is just as I feared, you have roped me in. Now I must play!
Finrod Felagund gave the ring to Barahir when he rescued him
Beren displayed the ring to King Thingol at the court of Menegroth
Aragorn gave the ring to Arwen as a token of betrothal in 2980
Now you must give me a little time to form another question as I must get ready for the holiday & company tomorrow.

No problem, Mallorn! As you can tell from the date on this post, I have been out of town for the 4th as well. We all look forward to your question!

OK. Here is a level 1 question. In P.J.'s extended version of FOTR, Galadriel gives Sam an elven rope.
What did she actually give him in the book?
Roughly when & where did he use the gift?
What did a special part of the gift become & where?
(Sorry it took me so long)

Nice questions,
Mallorn
.
A very personal gift for a master gardener: a box of garden soil from Lothlorien, with the seed of a mallorn tree inside. Sam used it in the reforestation of the Shire, placing a precious grain of soil in the planting of each new seedling and planting the mallorn where the Party Tree had been.
This is another very special part of LOTR, and I can't
believe that PJ had Sam be unhappy with his gift from Galadriel and ask for another! Never!

I am finally getting the hang of this. Right you are Merry! Of course the seed planting at the site of the party tree is one of my personal favorites

I guess this means you are up!

It was "A most unhappy dwarf" Merry. Non-other than Thorin Oakenshield.

No Philipa, check again. I am on the road & don't have the book to give you a good hint, but he carried Thorin out after he was mortally wounded in the last battle on the Lonely Mountain & was quite fierce when he came & got him.

I have to admit that I had to look this up, Mallorn. It was Beorn, which is actually kind of a tender thought.
