Haven't thought that far ahead yet.

Perfect tonic for the middle of a cold, snowy January! I agree with Iolanthe--the iris is a great design. I grow similar ones in my sideyard, but a whole field of them would break your heart with their beauty!

Yes, indeed! Interesting place to lose the Ring.

Oh, these are LOVELY, Riv! Will this be for your next calendar, since you are planning to do twelve?

Very pretty, Riv! I love it that the circular borders complement the flowers so beautifully!

The colours really 'sing', Riv. I especially love the Poppy

Yes, that's my favorite of this bunch, too. It's a cute idea to do the names of the Baggins girls!

I must admit I did it backwards and Tolkien came to the rescue. I painted the flowers and wondered how to tie them to Tolkien and discovered his 'floral' Hobbits.

Lovely, lovely, lovely! PLEASE tell me that you also plan to do "Rose" Cotton-Gamgee, "Eglantine" (Sweet briar rose) Took, "Primula" Brandybuck Baggins, "Pansy" Baggins Bolger, "Daisy" Baggins Boffin or "Daisy" Gamgee, "Primrose" Gamgee, "Myrtle" Burrows, and "Pimpernel" and "Pervinca" Took. Even your "Elanor" could be for "Elanor" Gamgee. You could easily do an entire cycle of twelve flower-inspired illustrations based on Hobbitess names alone!

Don't forget Lobelia Sackville-Baggins! I love Lobelia (the flower, not the hobbit, although I did like her better at the end). There's an annual form that is one of only a few flowers that is true blue. There is also a perennial that's red, but it's not as pretty.
