Finrod built the fortress on Tol Sirion.

I had to look the next bit up. I'd forgotten Finrod gave the fortress to his brother Orodreth however I did remember Sauron over took the 'tower of guard' and the short of it was poor Finrod and company died there.

Or course Luthien leveled it to the ground and saved her love Beren.

The original name was Bagshot Row. The hobbits considered Battle Gardens or Better Smials, but New Row was the sensible name. "It was a purely Bywater joke to refer to it as Sharkey's End"

Parmastahir, I believe that the outer wall of Minas Tirith was made of the same impenetrable black stones that were used in the construction of Orthanc...a point missed entirely by PJ in the filming of the trilogy.

Where were the Houses of healing located in the city?
