Hi Philipa, it's been a while since I posted too

That would be King Argeleb II.

So here's my Question: Minas Tirith in Beleriand: Who built it and who occupied it?

Finrod built the fortress on Tol Sirion.

I had to look the next bit up. I'd forgotten Finrod gave the fortress to his brother Orodreth however I did remember Sauron over took the 'tower of guard' and the short of it was poor Finrod and company died there.

Or course Luthien leveled it to the ground and saved her love Beren.

:D My question is thus:

What was the original name of the "New Row"

Bonus: what was it jokingly called in Bywater?

The original name was Bagshot Row. The hobbits considered Battle Gardens or Better Smials, but New Row was the sensible name. "It was a purely Bywater joke to refer to it as Sharkey's End"

Trivia Question: What was Tom Bombadil fetching for Goldberry when he heeded the hobbits' cries for hellp?

Tom was fetching water lilies for his "lovely Lady."

Who was the "Winged Messenger"?

The Winged Messenger is a Black Rider on a winged beast. The phrase is used by Gandalf. The Company sensed one flying over them when they were by the Anduin; Legolas shot the beast.

Question:

How old is Aragorn when he meets Gandalf?

Well, I finally had some time to study Appendix B, serinde: if my math is correct, he was 25.

that is very young to 'get mixed up in Wizard's business' -- it is interesting because this is the beginning of his path to the Throne of Gondor!

How many hobbits were killed in the Battle of Bywater?

19 Hobbits were killed in the Battle of Bywater.

My favorite LotR trivia question:

Of what color and composition was the outermost wall of Minas Tirith?

Away from The Green Hill Country,

Parmastahir

Parmastahir, I believe that the outer wall of Minas Tirith was made of the same impenetrable black stones that were used in the construction of Orthanc...a point missed entirely by PJ in the filming of the trilogy.

Where were the Houses of healing located in the city?

Gotta LOVE that Fonstad. :D
