I doodled a version where the legs were much more trunk like (and probably more accurate) but then any effort to make them bendable and put in knees just looks wierd. Either the knees have to be enormous or you have make the legs much narrower there. Both look awful.
No knees, no walking!

Now let the song begin! Let us sing together
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather...

Iolanthe, your Treebeard is wonderful! A lovely companion piece for Fimbrethil. What I've always wanted to see is a close-up of Treebeard's face, capturing those extraordinary eyes "brown, shot with a green light" as The Professor described them through Pippin:
"One felt as if there was an enormous well behind them, filled up with ages of memory and long, slow steady thinking; but their surface was sparkling with the present: like sun shimmering on the outer leaves of a vast tree, or on the ripples of a very deep lake."
Now, how THAT'S to be accomplished, I haven't the faintest clue, but I've always wanted to see it!

I've just received my copy of Mallorn with 'Glaurung's Death Throes' on the cover
. It's a bit duller looking than the original (a LOT duller, actually, the colour's somehow drained away although it looked fine on the file I sent) but I'm still thrilled to see it there! And it's a real MeJ issue because when I looked inside I disovered to my delight that there were two of Riv's and a full page 'Spring exceeded his wildest hopes' by Marbretherese on the inside back cover! It all looks fabulous. Go us!!!!
On another note, I'll be taking a batch of my Tolkien prints to the Festival in the Shire in August, where they'll go into the general 'shop'.

Actually - I have kept all the latest Mallorns, but only because one of the other of us has had some stuff in it, but if we didn't I'd read it and bin (recycle) it. The only Amon Hen's I've kept are kept for the same reason. But I know that if I ever need to look at a Mallorn I haven't got I can come and look at yours!
Fingers crossed your copy arrives soon. The booking form for Oxonmoot is also in the same package
