The colors came out brighter than the original and I guess I can live with that. I am especially pleased with the tree.

I love the organic, curvy window handle and the falling leaves in the distance. It's details like that that really make your work, Riv.

Just beautiful Riv! I can small the pie as well, and I want to run out, rake up a pile of leaves, and jump in them!

Wow! This really strikes me as having the spirit of Tolkien, with the trees forming a room of sorts and each leaf individually drawn. Beautiful!

The
spirit of Tolkien indeed, Merry ...
Tolkien wrote:At the south end of the greensward there was an opening. There the green floor ran on into the wood, and formed a wide space like a hall, roofed by the boughs of trees. Their great trunks ran like pillars down each side.

This is gorgeous Riv! I love the panels of warm color in the sky, the tall columns of trees with thick green leaves, and the lovely little tree in the middle just beginning to lose its magnificent scarlet leaves. It is September in the environs of the Shire, after all.

Thanks for all the kind words ladies. Here is my next effort ...
The River Withywindle
In the midst of it there wound lazily a dark river of brown water, bordered with ancient willows, and flecked with thousands of faded willow leaves. The air was think with them, fluttering yellow from the branches ... " This is the River Withywindle ...", said Merry.

You are really in a fall mood, RR! Have the aspens turned yet? I particularly like the background colors in this one--a beautiful palette.
What are you going to use for your calendar this year?

The aspens are at their peak this weekend, Merry.
I am not sure about a calendar this year. The only theme where I have 12 pieces is the floral group.
These last two pieces are being done for a show here in November. I can submit originals only and the theme must be florals or landscapes which feature flora. I am submitting three pieces and the third one will be a re-work of
Autumn Comes to the Shire.

The colours are just stunning, Riv

. I'm thrilled you are going to be able to exhibit them and can't wait to see the
Autumn Comes to the Shire reworking.
