Very nice delicate use of colours and shades - it's lovely

. I especially like the window made from the tree boughs and the way that and the leaves fade into the surround keeping you focussed on the centre. Very

.
Can't wait to see the rest transformed!!!!

Thanks for the kind words to this novice everyone. I appreciate your encouragement at this stage. I was just telling Iolanthe that I have been working on that first piece so much that it is time to step away and take a breather from that one before trying to make a final rendition.
So I have gone on to the second piece for right now. The inspiring Tolkien poem is...
Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate;
And thought I oft have passed them by,
A day will come at last when I
Shall take the hidden paths that run
West of the Moon, East of the Sun.
Metamorphosis
Thinking about the poem today, this...

I like the metamorphosis, RR. There needed to be a gate, I think, and the ivy matches it well.

I think it fits the words better too, Riv, and now there's ivy I can see that the gate is the other side of a wall with a nice Hobbity circular opening

.
But I still like the other picture with the bullrushes. Maybe there is another watery verse of a poem that you can adapt it for rather than lose it?
My Gollum and the Ring painting has been put on hold for a bit. It's half done and I am rather less than happy with it. I need to either finish it or rip it up and start again

I love it!

Gorgeous greens, love the detail behind the ivy. Makes me want to go see where the road may lead!

Wonderful colors! Perfect in every way (except for a typo--sorry, teachers are really annoying, aren't we?). The path to the mountains really beckons.
So, I think these would make a perfect set of notecards to give your friends for Easter, don't you? (hint

Ha--good!
This must be really satisfying for you, RR. I know from the long discussions we had in designing this website that you have a great eye for color, and applying that to our beloved author's words must be a dream come true!

It's
lovely Riv

. I love the soft use of colour and the way they blend and I can still see the crescent moon in the opening

Merry, it is amazing. I always knew that Tolkien conjured up vivid images, but I had know idea how interesting it would be to try to make the visual portrait.

Lovely, lovely, Riv! I hope you'll be making these available for purchase through the V-W Marketplace, hmmm?

I am not sure about the Marketplace...but making them available for purchase is definitely part of the long range plan.
