We don't celebrate May 1 as a holiday for workers here in the United States, possibly because we have a Labor Day and because the May 1 holiday is associated with communism in some minds. But since I'm a Catholic, I always enjoy May 1 as the feast of St. Joseph the Worker, which has even deeper roots!
