Yes, indeed! Well done, marbretherese.
And thanks to everyone else who wrote Weird Norse Poems! This was really a learning experience for me, both in terms of learning this new form, but also how we all learned something about it together while attempting to write. 'Learning Communities' are a hot new concept now in higher education, but I think we've got the best example of it here.

Congratulations, Marbretherese

. A fantastic poem amongst a really wonderful group of entries. I think everyone that's contributed deserves a slap on the back

.
I agree with Merry that we've all learnt something about the poetry that Tolkien loved through having a go at this. And it's been great fun. Those old Norse blokes knew a thing or two about entertaining listeners with words and images, didn't they?

thanks everybody! I'm gobsmacked to have won - can you see me blushing?

I too really enjoyed the experience, as everyone else did, of writing in this strange compulsive format. Our enjoyment has translated itself into the high standard of the entries!

Thank you Marbretherese. It's always fun to try something new and such a beautiful job of translating Tolkiens style.
Congratulations on your win. Eowinda

Sorry to be late to the party! Mr. L had a BIG concert this weekend, so I have been dealing with that, plus family visiting from out of town for the occasion.
CONGRATULATIONS to marbretherese for her winning entry -- just a fantastic poem! And CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who took a stab at this truly interesting poetic form. All of the entries were wonderful, and it was really hard to choose just one to support with a vote.
