I say it is Aragorn. Just sounds sorta like him.

Yes, Riv Res, you are correct! It is from the appendices (that's why I thought it is a 1,5 question, because it is not exactly LOTR itself) and Aragorn talks to Elrond about Arwen.
Your turn again.

I know this line but I can't remember .... was it Gandalf?

I'll guess that it was Boromir. He would have had that kind of knowledge based on rumor of Rohan.

Oh yeah that's right...I wonder......

Philipa, you are indeed the closest because Gandalf was in conversation with the character who said this. A hint...the character was not human.

Ha! I had to look this up, and the answer was unexpected! I guessed that this was a part of the conversation at the Council of Elrond, and indeed it was, but it was a coversation reported by Gandalf between him and . . . Gwaihir!
Good one, RR!

Nope. I think it was Faramir, wasn't it?

Yep--turns out he was wrong!
You're good--and it's your turn again!

Gotta LOVE that Faramir!

I think that of all the
LOTR characters, Tolkien gave Faramir the best lines.

Ummm...this one isn't hard. It's from the beginning of the book.
