HI Calendar

Post by Parmastahir »

Hello Iolanthe -

Having collected so many Tolkien calendars, I have wanted to create one for a while now. So it is very satisfying to have finally done so. And working with Ted Nasmith and Jef Murray was brilliant. What also pleases me is the unsolicited responses that we are getting on the calendar. People are genuinely thrilled with it. I can attribute that to the artwork and my daughter's design. I am REALLY happy to be associated with this production. Most of all, this will allow HI/NETS to remain active for 2008 - which is important to me. Jessie and Anthony are really involved in Tolkien studies and just nice people. So I am happy for them. The success has put me in a very Christmasy spirit!

With my best wishes to you and all Middle-earth Journeys members for a VERY Merry Christmas and happiness and health in the New Year,

Away from The Green Hill Country,

Parmastahir

And a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, too, Parmastahir :D . May it be a peaceful and Tolkien filled one.

HI Calendar

Post by Parmastahir »

Comments on the HI calendar are coming in now that they are being received by purchasers. The comments have all been most positive which pleases me no end! I had thought it a wonderful piece. But having been intimately involved in its design and creation, I had wondered if I were biased (which is true nonetheless!) People are wondering if HI will do one for 2009 (which I think we will). It is not too late to order one here:

www.herenistarion.org

You may also purchase one from René van Rossenberg at Tolkienwinkel as he purchased 10 to sell on his site. And there will probably be a second print run as the Tolkien Society (UK) Trading section has enquired about 15 - 25 for their members.

Proceeds after printing and postage costs will support HI's website and journals in the coming year.

With my best wishes for a VERY Merry Christmas and happiness and health in the New Year,

Away from The Green Hill Country,

Parmastahir

Thanks for the toast (and the calculation!), Parmastahir! We've got a special birthday toast thread above, so join us there if you'd like to read other toasts.
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Sorry to be so long in having a look at this! I've been both busy and then poorly so missed this treat.

It's fabulous, Parmastahir, I can see why you are so proud of it :D . It's beautifully designed, all Ted's newest paintings are there plus the unseen ones of course! It's also wonderful to see another painting of the inside of bag-end.

Congratulations :clapping: .

Calendar Updates

Post by Parmastahir »

Added the 2008 Sociedad Tolkien Española calendar to the catalog at:

www.angelfire.com/tn3/tolkiencalendars

Hope you enjoy it.

Thank you, Iolanthe, for your very kind words. I am proud to have been associated with the 08 Heren Istarion calendar! Also, should anyone be on the fence about whether to order one of them or not, there are only TWO copies available and it does not look like we will print any more. We had hoped to sell 100 and have sold 88 of the 90 we printed. The sales of and the responses to this calendar were great and, most importantly, will keep HI active throughout 2008. Mission accomplished!

Castles in the Mist

ACD Books are holding their usual exhibition in Moreton in Marsh but this year it will be bigger and better:
Castles in the Mist: A JRR Tolkien and Fantasy inspired Exhibition

Featuring the works of Ted Nasmith and Ruth Lacon with special invited guests John Howe, Alan Lee and Roger Garland.

Including brilliant original art and limited edition prints, music, costumes, memorabilia, quiz and prizes. Trade stands for Tolkien and Fantasy inspired books, Jewellery, Birds of Prey, Games and Memorabilia.

A spectacular exhibition double the size of previous exhibitions, at the Redesdale Hall, High Street, Moreton in Marsh, Gloucertershire.

Saturday 5th - Monday 7th April, 9am - 5pm.
It's not the same week as show week this year, marbreterese :D . Sounds like a must if you and Jonick are free!

I can't find the right adjective for how wonderful that sounds! I'm trying not to be jealous, but rather grateful that you all can report on this for us. Not jealous, no, not me.

J & I are going to RHS Wisley on the Saturday but the Sunday might be possible if you don't mind missing a rehearsal? failing that you & I could always take a day off work on the Monday . . . . sounds like too good an opportunity to waste!

Absolutely! I wonder if Howe and Lee will be there all of those days or just some of them. We'll have to try and find out. I expect there'll be more info on the ADC Books website nearer the event.

Ruth Lacon's wonderful pictures can now be bought as cards according to this month's Amon Hen. If they've got them there I'm buying. We'll probably need to take a trolly with us  .
