Maedhros was taken by Morgoth and suspened by his hand later to be rescued by Fingon. In the end Maedhros threw himself inot the depths of the earth with one of the silamrillions. I often think of the Greek tragedies when I read the accounts of the First Age.

Well, I also think the Greek tragedies theme runs through out Tolkien's work that your answer was just as valid as the many that are available. Good riddle Bruce. :D

Luthien was disguised as Sauron's vampire messenger Thuringwethil....and Beren disguised as the werewolf Draugluin...

And the description of those disguises is particularly creepy~

Beren as a werewolf and Luthien "...a bat-like creature with creased wings...barbed at each joint's end with an iron claw."

Elessarslady~ you are right and looks like the 'ball is in your court" so to speak!!!
