Love the poem--absolution for my ever-growing collection of various editions of LOTR!

She certainly had a flair with the meter. Thanks for sharing earwen's handy-work Merry.

Thanks, Merry - I've really enjoyed reading it. I admire the way she's managed to include various points so succinctly!

Kudos from another "Tolkien nutter" and WRoR member! Thanks for sharing Earwen's poem, Merry! I missed it on the original site.

I think it came pretty early in our history, Lindariel. Several of our Writers really honed their skills, which was fun to watch and participate in, as was the case with Riv Res' artwork here. One even became a published author as a result!

Great poem! Somehow I completely managed to miss it until today

. Thanks for posting it here Merry

.
Well, I'm off to Oxford tomorrow for the annual Tolkien Society Oxonmoot. I'll be talking two of my paintings to their art exhibition - Lothlorien and Gollum (because it's brightly coloured and not too detailed) - and picked them up in their new frames yesterday. Gollum had been put in the frame upside down which seems appropriate somehow

. He's now the right way up....
I'll take my camera and write a full report

. I see Anke Eissman is on the list of members coming. I'm thrilled as I'd love to meet her after writing a profile on her art! And, Merry, Marcel Bulles will also be there! We both met him at last years Tolkien Conference at Exeter College where he presented a paper. He runs RingCon and is a very nice (and extremely clever) young man. So at least I'll know somebody

Iolanthe, have a great time at the Oxenmoot. I'm really looking forward to reading your report when you get back! I'm sure your paintings will go down a storm!

Okay, I'll admit it: I'm completely green-faced jealous! The only thing that will make me feel better will be your complete report, Iolanthe. Have a wonderful time, and say hello from me to Marcel and anyone else from our Oxford experience, please!

I will! There are a couple of other names that I'm sort of familiar with and I'm hoping to recognise some more faces when I get there!
Maybe you'll take a trip next year, Merry? They are doing an extra day and starting on the Thursday so it will be a longer event

. It will also be at Christ Church. Posh!!!!

Well - I'm back and I had the time of my life

. I've started a new thread for Oxonmoot reports and you'll find all my endless wittering about what a great time I had
here. It's very long with more to come

'I wish life was not so short,' he thought. 'Languages take such a time, and so do all the things one wants to know about.'
~from The Lost Tales.
I forgot to post this earlier. I found this on-line on Jan 3rd the Professor's birthday. Sad is it not?

It is a great Tolkienesque line, Philipa. Do you know who said it and in what context?
