Thank you once again Beren for the direction. I'm very curious to know what's between it's pages. At the US Amazon the edition with Alan Lee's photographs is already listed for $100. I can't imagine how they came up with that price but we'll see.

That is the deluxe edition... there will be a hardback edition, a deluxe edition and a superdeluxe edition (probably limited to 250 or so copies and probably signed by Alan lee and CT)... go to my site and you can find all the info!

This isn't about Mr. Nasmith as artist, but it's his opinion on whether Peter Jackson and company should make The Hobbit into a film. It's the most reasoned statement I've seen to date.

Very interesting, Merry, and I like his comments on visual continuity. I can also see the Tolkien astist in his putting forward other landscapes that have the scale to represent Middle-earth.

I saw this today on Tor.n by someone named Beleg_Cuthalion.
"The reason for writing now is to ask you to keep an eye out for an Original Ted Nasmith that appears to have gone missing from a house in Cornwall and may possibly come onto the market for sale. It is “Gandalf rides to Minas Tirith” ( not to be confused with a similar painting). If any of you hear of this being put up for sale or offered for auction, please contact Andy on 01608 812860 or 07785 110512 with the details." Unimpressed
:(

Oh dear.

John Howe had a Gandalf painting stolen once. And now Ted. Perhaps there's an unscrupulous collector out there!

That's awful! I wonder whether it was just an oportunisitc burgler who just happened to take it because they though it would be worth something, rather than it being targeted.
