Hello to all fellow Tolkien lovers...I first read LoTR in high school ( MANY years ago...

) and fell in love instantly! Reading the trilogy was a *yearly* thing, and along the way I built up my book collection. Right now I am listening to
The Silmarillion and falling in love with it all over again ( having Martin Shaw doing the narration doesn't hurt either

)
Hello

Hello. My introduction to Middle Earth is a recent event. My husband loved the triology and had been a fan since his High School years. I am not usually a fan of this genre and never read the books. When Fellowship came out on film, I didn't see it. I had waited till TTT came out in film before I even watched Fellowship and then I was hooked! I went out, got the book and read it then, I couldn't wait to see The Return of the King. I love the books and the movies because it is inspiring to me. It's fiction but I identified with it. I saw the strength in the fellowship and that inspired me into doing something that I didn't think I would be able to do (enrolled in grad school now after being away from school for almost 20 years). I look forward to seeing your posts when I break from my studies. Thank you, everyone who is involved with this website.

Varda, Light of Galadriel welcome to you both.

As merry said earlier, it is interesting to see the paths that led people to MeJ.

Greetings! I have been immersing myself in the books since I saw the movies and I participate at the WRoR site. So I may not be here often but will make an effort to stop by from time to time.
The site looks great btw.

Merry wrote:I have found that the books read differently to me as an adult than they did when I was a child. I imagine you experienced that even more pointedly, having such a long interlude. True?
When I first read LOTR as a teenager I enjoyed it as a wonderful, inspiring story - but now it seems far more relevant to daily life on many levels! Tolkien's time has come in a big way, and the films have helped to bring his work into mass consciousness. I'm sure this website will also play it's part!

I have also found that real life applicability, marbretherese. I think there is deep wisdom in the books. It's kind of cool to think of this website playing its part! If that turns out to be true, even in some small way, WOW!

Greetings my fellow Tolkienphiles,
An historic moment for me, my first post ever to a forum of any kind - be gentle with me please or I'll just flee back to my old lurking ways. I've read comments from some of the current members since the HoT days, but a Tolkien only forum was irresistable so I'm in.
Like many of the others I've read and re-read The Hobbit, The Silmarillion, and LotR since junior high, finding more treasure with each encounter. Another member mentioned an experience I recognize - the surprises of a "familiar" work when life has changed us since the last reading. Some painful recent experiences have revealed a consoling aspect to Tolkien's work I never percieved as a younger, less bruised reader.

Hello everyone
It's wonderful to find this forum.
I lost my heart to Aragorn 34 years ago when I first read Lord of the Rings. I've read the books every year since. My favourite Tolkien book is The Silmarillion closely followed by Unfinished Tales with all its extra details. I have the complete set of The History of Middle-earth and more Tolkien-related books than I care to admit to. My favourite Tolkien artist is Ted Nasmith.
I'm looking forward to having a good time here.

Ah, yes, aflon, losing one's heart to Aragorn.

Well, enough said.
Welcome to Middle-earth Journeys! We look forward to your sharing your expertise in the Unfinished Tales.
