 Last time I looked I was trailing! I am not worthy, there were so many good poems :worship: . Thank you everyone, I'm thrilled.

Christmas with The Balrog was great fun. He sends his New Year Greetings to you all and if any of you are near Moria in the near future he says he makes very good toast...
Now let the song begin! Let us sing together
Of sun, stars, moon and mist, rain and cloudy weather...

Congrats, Iolanthe! My 11-year-old nephew loved your poem as well!
Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

Belated congratulations to Iolanthe!

When I posted my entry, my daughter told me, "That's very nice, Mommy, but 'Christmas with the Balrog' is going to win. It's very funny, and it rhymes!" And I agreed with her wholeheartedly. It was such a surprise to get back to work after a nice holiday vacation and discover that my entry was a close second. I never expected that!

Again, my thanks to the moderators for kindly posting my daughter's poem and drawing as a non-entry. It pleased her tremendously to see her work on the internet in a "real Tolkien" forum. She's taking her poem and illustration to school today to share with her teacher and class. Thanks for giving a precocious 9-year-old a real thrill!

It was a joy, Lindariel! Gotta groom the next generation to take over the Tolkien forums when our eyesight fails us!

I thought your daughter's poem and drawing was terrific, Lindariel! I bet her class were impressed with it too :D .
