Legolas doesn't appear in The Hobbit, so this is a little improvisation by PJ et al. Legolas is the son of Thranduil, the Elf King, so it is plausible that he would be on the scene in his father's hall and part of the Battle of the Five Armies. But it seems like his role will be little more than a cameo. That's fine with me!

I'm not sure if anyone is even here anymore! But if you are, make sure to visit TOR.n for coverage of the Comic-Con presentations from PJ and company.
I'm loving Richard Armitage!

Hello! So I am not alone here! Nice to see you, Michka.
I'm not sure if I was clear: the new info about the Hobbit movie is at
www.theonering.net. Lots of nice interviews with PJ, Philipa, Sir Ian, Richard Armitage, Martin Freeman, and others. Fun!

Alas! I have the same problem: while I can read French if it is simple enough, the spoken word is too fast and often too idiomatic for me.
One of the oral interviews I liked the most was with Richard Armitage, who said that he read The Hobbit when he was seven years old. Because of that, he seemed to take those of us who love the books very seriously, and said that he felt the responsibility of translating the character of Thorin for so many people. That makes me hopeful! He also said that it took him a while to learn to act with all the prosthetics on, that all of his facial movements had to be larger than usual. He sounded like someone who had been really living in this character for a while.

I know much of the speculation about the Hobbit movie has been about Smaug and the spiders and the sexy dwarf, etc., but as I've been following our Hobbit Calendar, I've found that one of the things I'm most looking forward to seeing is Beorn and his household. I gather that the actor is quite spectacular and I can't wait to see how they have the animals serving dinner, etc.

I guess it's official now, with PJ's announcement, that there will be three 'Hobbit' movies. I'm not sure if this is good news or bad news!

TheOneRing.net has the first photo of Thranduil from the movie. Not exactly what I expected, but you can sure see that he is Legolas' father!

This morning, TOR.n calls our attention to a new on-line Hobbit cookbook!

I haven't perused the recipes yet, but it looks like fun!
