TOR.n had a little article on this tea company:

http://www.hobbittea.com

It would be fun to order some! But also of interest is the story of how they got permission to use the names.

The story is on page two of their TORn link. To make it easier, the full story is here:

www.cleveland.com

I never thought I'd see anything Tolkien on a product that wasn't directly connected with the books or films! That must be a first  .

We will have some more excellent adventures to regale you all with in August as Marbretherese, Jonick and I have booked this:

Festival in the Shire

There will be so much going on that we won't know what to visit next. Shippey, Flieger, Garth, Howe, Nasmith and many more. I just hope the main people we want to see/hear don't clash. Three days of Middle-earth heaven!

Oh, yes! I saw that it was the King's birthday on my calendar this morning when I turned it to the most excellent March picture of Mrs. Maggot's kitchen!

It is also the day on which Elessar so humbly and gracefully accepted The Gift and relinquished his life.
Then a great beauty was revealed in him, so that all who after came there looked on him in wonder; for they saw that the grace of his youth, and the valour of his manhood, and the wisdom and majesty of his age were blended together. And long there he lay, an image of the splendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.
[From LOTR, Appendix A, The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen -- In my humble opinion, this is one of the most beautiful passages The Professor ever wrote.]

My favourite quote, Lindariel!

Happy Birthday, Aragorn.
Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits.

I think I fell in love with Aragorn at this quote: I was done in by "high boots of supple leather". (ahem, whew, fanning myself)

Remember that March 25 is Tolkien Reading Day. What will you read this year?

I think I'll get out my copy of the Adventures of Tom Bombadil and enjoy those wonderful poems again. And also enjoy Pauline Baynes's wonderful illustrations along with them :D .

For Tolkien Reading Day:

The Song of Firiel

The Father made the World for Elves and Mortals
and he gave it into the hands of the Lords: They are in the West.
They are holy, blessed, and beloved: save the dark one.
He is fallen. Melkor has gone from Earth: it is good.
For Elves they made the Moon, but for Men the red Sun,
which are beautiful. To all they gave in measure the gifts
of Ilúvatar. The world is fair, the sky, the seas,
the earth, and all that is in them. Lovely is Numenor!
But my heart resteth not here forever,
for here is ending, and there will be an end and the Fading,
when all is counted, and all numbered at last,
but yet it will not be enough, not enough.
What will the Father, O Father, give me
in that day beyond the end when my Sun faileth?

One last quotation before we bid goodbye to Tolkien Reading Day:

Sing now, ye people of the Tower of Anor,
for the Realm of Sauron is ended for ever,
and the Dark Tower is thrown down.

Sing and rejoice, ye people of the Tower of Guard,
for your watch hath not been in vain,
and the Black Gate is broken,
and your King hath passed through,
and he is victorious.

Sing and be glad, all ye children of the West,
for your King shall come again,
and he shall dwell among you
all the days of your life.

And the Tree that was withered shall be renewed,
and he shall plant it in the high places,
and the City shall be blessed.

Sing all ye people!

Ah, well, obviously one of my favorites as well, since my signature quote is from it. Shippey wrote about how it is the language of the psalms. But I noticed for the first time tonight that only when your King is a Numenorean can it be promised that he will live among you all the days of your life!

What a beautiful scene.

Lindariel a late reply is mine

Then a great beauty was revealed in him, so that all who after came there looked on him in wonder; for they saw that the grace of his youth, and the valour of his manhood, and the wisdom and majesty of his age were blended together. And long there he lay, an image of the splendour of the Kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world.

but your quote brings tears to my eyes  just so beautiful
