Yes, Marilyn, you are correct. Your turn.

The above quote about Fili & Kili was obvious for a guess -- but I enjoyed searching for the exact reference (ie, not at Bilbo's unexpected party, or the arrival at Beorn's house)

Thank you serinde, well here goes for another question.

Level 1/2

Who said " Also I drink quickly, and go out while some are still wetting their beards..." and to whom and where.

That would be during the Entmoot. Bregalad, or Quickbeam, introducing himself to Merry & Pippin.

Who says:

If you would let me choose, then I should appoint three companions: Sam, who could not bear it otherwise; and Gimli; and myself.

When & where?

It was Aragorn by the river-side, west of Tol Brandir while Frodo (and Boromir) went for a walk, just before the Fellowship split up.

Thanks Serinde! :D

Next, who said this:
Let us be thankful that they are not hunting us: for they use poisoned arrows, it is said, and they are woodcrafty beyond compare.

This quote is Elfhelm speaking to Merry, explaining to 'the treeroot' who the Wildmen are, and what the delay is during the Ride of the Rohirrim to Gondor.

Here's a level 1:

"Yes, it all comes back to me now, the tremendous roaring. I thought I was drowning, with my friends and enemies and all. But now we are all safe!"

A: Frodo said it when speaking to Gandalf in Rivendell. He was remembering when the ringwraiths crossed the river and were swept away byt he river water. Frodo thought he would be taken by the river's water too.

Q: Who said "At the worst our enemy knows that we have it..."? Easy peasy, lemon squeezy :D

At the worst, our Enemy knows that we have it not, and that it still is lost. But what was lost may yet be found, he thinks. Fear not! His hope will cheat him. Have I not earnestly studied this matter? Into Anduin the Great it fell; and long ago, while sauron slept, it was rolled down the River to the Sea. There let it lie until the End.
This is actually Gandalf quoting Saruman, at the Council of Elrond. Saruman was, of course, the expert in Ring lore, but also desperately searching for the one Ring for himself. He was deceiving the White Council about Sauron's purposes; trying to hide both Sauron & Saruman's own search for the Ring.

Off-topic, but I can't resist: "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy"? Is that a Kiwi-ism, White Rose? :D

Hi there, yes, serinde you were right with your answer :D

Merry ref 'easy peasy, lemon squeezy" I have no idea where this comes from. I know it from the UK but they seem to know it in NZ too. I think it's one of those that just rolls of your tongue - and obviously means this is very easy or simple to do.

So back to serinde for her "Who said it" question...

Who said:

A gift I will give you. ... But in my stead you shall go, ... when the time comes, and if you then desire it.

Happy Hunting!
