Ah, crap I remember where but not who. Those darned orc names. :x

Aah...but methinks t'was not an orc but a troll who uttered those words, Philipa. Tom the Troll to be precise...I think.

Absolutely right, Riv! And good for you for figuring out exactly WHICH troll said it, because the Professor is a tad bit coy about it there at the beginning.

Your turn!

You do have to back into who is saying that one for sure, Lindariel.

Next up. Who says...
Which order shall we go in? Eldest first, or quickest first?

It's been 10 days, so I'll go ahead and answer.

That would be Frodo in the house at Crickhollow, referring to the order in which they would have their baths. That statement was followed by, "You'll be last either way, Master Peregrin." Fortunately, Merry solved the problem by providing three bathtubs!

Let me offer our apologies, Lindariel: I think we're not used to these threads being active.

So I have no idea who said this, but I'll offer a guess: an elf?

Methinks it was our friend Frodo again. I seem to remember something like this being said after the fall of Gandalf in Moria.

No apologies necessary, Merry! I stay back and wait for our younger and/or newer members to have a crack at these questions before weighing in. Since 10 days had passed, I figured folks were stumped, so I answered the question to keep the game going.

Riv is correct. Frodo said this to Celeborn during the Fellowship's initial meeting with the Lord and Lady of the Golden Wood. I tried to pick a quote that could possibly have come from several different sources and in a variety of different situations -- just like the earlier troll quote would sound plausible coming from an orc. Sneaky, huh?

Your turn, Riv!

I'm just guessing, Meliel, but it sounds like the Gaffer to me. (By the way, I love your signature quote!)
