I think that if a concept is in an artist's head it will convey itself in the painting somehow. And you've certainly captured that "otherness" with your Tom!

Thanks! It went pretty well, I think. I talked about Lewis' The Great Divorce--have you read it? It's an allegory (horrors!) about heaven and hell and 'The Last Judgment' which really isn't a judgment at all.

I really changed the coloring on this one. I am submitting six of this series (if I get them done in time ) for an exhibit through my local art guild. We'll see if they accept any of them.

Good luck Riv! Seeing this one how can they not accept them? This is just terrific. The new colours are so much more intense and the ivy really stands out now against the red. The variagated leaves (which were a little lost before) really catch the eye and look beautiful.
Using the opposite colour on the colour wheel really makes it 'ping' !

I've finished Goldberry. I've shown her in the river, probably after pulling Tom in on the first day he saw her! Somehow I just wanted to show her in the Withywindle, not in a house surrounded by pots. If you look carefully you can see that her trailing sleeves make the shape of another waterlily . Lucky I have huge yellow flag iris's and waterlilies in my garden pond so I wasn't short of reference material .
Thanks! That was tricky - I was trying to get the fragmented effect I've had in other paintings while still making it look like water, so it's not entirely realistic. I wasn't sure whether it would work or not, but I wanted it to be clearly part of the series.

I love the waterlilies - they almost look like lotus flowers and the whole painting has a mystical quality! the colours are extremely subtle, I particularly like the blue of the leaves at the top.

RR, the gate was one of my favorites of your works, and I still like the original. I don't dislike the new version, but the simplicity and calmness of the original still appeal to me. Apples and oranges, I guess.
