I boosted the contrast and colour of the last one for the Gallery Banner

.
I wondered about whether giving Old Man Willow a face would be too 'fairytale' but, as you said, very old trees
do have faces. You can always find one somewhere if you look. And I so love the idea of him singing to the Hobbits (very creepy) that he had to have a mouth so it would be clear what he's doing. The final thing that decided me was the fact that the Old Forest part of LorR is fairytale like.
I'm really pleased, Lindariel, you've described everything I was trying to catch in Denethor so it must be a success. Still no idea where the picture came from. I must have a wierd psyche or something.

Where to begin?
I knew this one needed work...
But when I worked on this, I wasn't entirely happy with it. Parts I like and parts I am not satisfied with...
And then out of nowhere this just came to my watercolor paper. It certainly wasn't planned, and it seems that the Mirror of Galadriel has given way to the Elanor of Lothlorien.

I love them both Riv

!!! Don't give up on the revised Mirror of G. It looks stunning. And now you've got a pair with Lothlorien in spring and autumn

.
If the Elanor pic just came into your head you must have been talking to my Muse - I always get picture deliveries that way

.

Lothlorien is always in springtime in my imagination, for some reason, so I love the palette that the Muse inspired, Riv Res!

They are lovely, Riv! you have a real silver birch thing going on there . . .

if you're not totally happy with the Lothlorien one, prop it up somewhere and take a look every time you pass it. Something will come to you if it needs to!
Sometimes I get picture deliveries in my head, too. In fact I have a list of inspirations just waiting for my technique to catch up . .

Very nice, Riv

. Very 'cool' - the blues really glow against the green. Is that the last one to be redone?

One more. Then I can FINALLY move on to something else.

The final one. Not much difference...just the border and lines.

Changing the border and the lines on this one has made all the difference, Riv - brought the main image into focus somehow.
And the one with the pine cones has always been one of my favourites

they're both great!!
Now looking forward to your
something else . . . .

I think this stained glass effect is really doing it for those paintings. I also like the heavier hand with the pigment too.

Yes, I agree. The clearer lines also work with the Ring in each picture.

Back again.
I can't get over how much more sophisticated this painting is from the original. You've really come a long way and have found your own style.
