Beren could you give a beginner an idea of where to check for answers. For some reason I seem to remember Sam was the same age. But I could be wrong there.

Philipa, if you look at the Hobbit family trees in Appendix C, you will see that Pippin was born in SR 1390 (Shire Reckoning) ad that Sam was born in SR 1380. I think the key here is to remember what the year was on the TA calendar.
Off to try to look that up.

I had found that before looking back here to explain what I found.
According the Encyl. of Arda he was born 2990 Third Age. So, I guess I'll need to figure out who else. According the the time chart at EoA Eomer was born the next year. But he's as close as I can find.

Sancho Proudfoot was also born in SR 1390.
