Oui, dans Le Hobbit.

Which reminds me: I received the most wonderful thank-you gift from one of my students today--Hobbitus Ille, The Hobbit translated into Latin!

Correct! It is the Master, who will probably be loathsome in the movie!

In case anyone else is playing, the quote Michka is asking about is 'May the forest be joyful'. I have no idea!

I would like to continue, Michka! It's just a bad week for me--exam week, with grades due and graduation, etc. Next week, I will have lots of free time!

But yes, a clue would be nice. Is this in 'The Hobbit'?

I'm not on vacation, Michka, but happily I have all my Tolkien books in a pile around me (I'm finally writing an article on Tolkien!), so it was easy to look up. Thanks for the good clue! This is Gandalf, saying farewell to the Elvenking. The original English is, "Merry be the greenwood . . .", an interesting shift in nuance in the translation.

If that's the right answer, here's a new quote: "The lights are coming out again over there, and there are more than ever of them."
