L-M, I use Frisket. It works well. I use Ivory soap for the brush when I apply. Its the purest soap...no perfumes.

Thanks for the tips about using masking fluid, Iolanthe & Riv. I never have got on with it, I usually manage to remove the paper surface along with the fluid. . . . Phillipa & Merry, will you share your paintings with us when they are finished? I do hope so!!

Riv, I'm not familiar with Frisket or Magic pick-up. What would you use them for?

I liked the 'lower your standards' advice in the article! Father Rolheiser's columns are in our local diocesan newspaper and he usually has good things to say. I'm not sure that 'art' is good for every artist, but I do think that some kind of making of things is probably good for most of us.

I think creativity is good for general health and well being, but many of us are taught to deny or downplay our creative talents. For example my boss is a Cordon Bleu cook, but she doesn't think of that as being creative . . .! I like Fr Rolheiser's emphasis on self-exptression rather than success. Having said that, I'm thrilled to learn about Grandma Moses too!!
