Ode To The Professor

A fateful early winter morn
Literary brilliance born
Company to that human birth
Begot the spawning of Middle-earth
Drink to Elves and Dwarves and Men
Toast the place Lothlorien
Remember Morgoth, Sauron, and Melkor
Celebrate the united Gondor and Arnor
All the while remembering
Mighty Elessar the King
And the little folk we so admire
Who work and play and tend The Shire
But before this special day can pass
We call you all to lift you glass
And toast most vigorously once again
The beloved man named Tolkien
Happy Birthday Professor!
We invite all you to post your Ode to the Professor on his 114th birthday.

Tolkien:
He gave us the"fellowship"
He showed such love, in developing languages,
people, middle earth and above.
So we read and read
And constantly learn anew
His masterpieces are indeed a pleasure, a fantasy
but real for me and you.

To The Professor
When elanor is flowering
And the elves are singing
Our lives feel younger,
Our happiness, greater.
When the White City gleams
And its banners are flying
Our lives are braver,
Our hopes grow stronger.
When Riders run fast
On the plains of Rohan
Our minds are freer,
Our spirits, higher.
When the Party Tree beckons
And Hobbits are dancing
Our joy is the brighter,
Our laughter, merrier.
When our Fellowship journeys
Through your world together,
Our friendships are deeper,
Our travels much lighter.
In our souls we all live
In the hearts of your heroes,
Though our world is duller
And its days so much darker.

It is not long anymore before we will toast one more time... but today is a nice autumn day so today I also toast to him. The Professor!!!
